What is a Boy Scout?!

A SCOUT! He enjoys a hike through the woods more than he does a walk over the city's streets. He can tell North or South or East or West by the "signs." He can tie a knot that will hold, he can climb a tree which seems impossible to others, he can swim a river, he can pitch a tent, he can mend a tear in his trousers, he can tell you which fruits and seeds are poisonous and which are not, he can sight nut-bearing trees from a distance; he can reef a sail or take his trick at the wheel, and can pull an oar or use paddles and sculls; he knows the stars by name and can find his way by them; he can identify birds and animals and fish and knows the ways and habitat of each.

A Scout walks through the woods with silent tread. No dry twigs snap under his feet and no loose stones turn over and throw him off his balance. His eyes are keen and he sees many things that others do not see. He sees tracks and signs which reveal to him the nature and habits of the creatures that made them. He knows how to stalk birds and animals and study them in their natural haunts. He sees much, but is little seen.

A Scout holds his honor to be his most precious possession, and he would die rather than have it stained. He knows what is his duty and all obligations imposed by duty he fulfills of his own free will. His sense of honor is his only taskmaster, and his honor he guards as jealously as did the knights of old. In this manner a Scout wins the confidence and respect of all people.

A Scout chooses as his motto "Be Prepared," and he seeks to prepare himself for anything--to rescue a companion, to ford a stream, to gather firewood, to help strangers, to distinguish right from wrong, to serve his fellow men, his country, and his God--always to "Be Prepared".

BP Guild Camp

In view of the tremendous respond of our get together last year, the old boys (BP Guild) is organizing another get together this year in celebration of Founder's Day at Dr's Lee beautiful orchard at Broga.

This time it will be two days event for any one that like to enjoy the out door camping.

Start:2pm 19th Feb (Sat) to 12pm 20th Feb(Sun).
Fee:RM9.90/pax. We will be cooking our food scout stlye, curry chicken and all...yummy.....!!!

The event is open to all boys scout ("old" and current),their family and friends. High lights: CAMPFIRE on the 1st day night and eraly morning BROGA MOUNTAIN CLIMBING.

Come with your family and friends to have a great time together and make this a event that we will cherries for many years to come. So please pass the news along and encourage as many as possible to come.

Please confirm your attendance earliest and wether will you be camping in and will you be bringing your own tent.

Malaysia To Bid For Locating World Scouts Organisation's Headquarter Here

PUTRAJAYA, Jan 3 (Bernama) -- Malaysia will offer to be the location for the World Scout Organisation's headquarters, which is now in Geneva, Switzerland.

The Malaysian delegation, headed by National Scout chief Datuk Seri Dr Shafie Salleh, will bid for it at the 39th World Scout Conference in Curitiba, Brazil from this Jan 10 to 14.

The Malaysian delegation has received the blessings of Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek to do the bidding, during their meeting at the minister's office, here, Monday.

Shafie later told reporters that a number of countries had expressed support for Malaysia's bid.

Besides that, he said, the Malaysian delegation would also be promoting to other countries, the 12th Malaysian Scouts Jamboree and Terengganu International Scouts Jamboree in November this year, at the Curitiba conference.

Ahmad Shabery said the building of the World Scout Organisation's headquarters in Malaysia would need Cabinet approval first if Malaysia succeeds in its bid.

"As the scouts movement in this country has among the biggest membership among non-governmental organisations, it is only apt if Malaysia is chosen as the location for the headquarters of the world scouts body," he said.

- The Singapore Scout Association is organising The Singapore 100 Years of Scouting Jamboree / The 3rd Asean Jamboree in Celebration of the 100th Year of Scouting in Singapore.


- JAMBOREE ACTIVITY

...~ ADVENTURE CHALLENGE
Scouts will have the opportunity to engage in challenging and adventurous activities to learn valuable skills such as leadership, teamwork, determination and resilience. These skills are critical for survival in an increasingly inter-connected and rapidly changing modern world.

~GLOBAL AND CULTURAL VILLAGES
Global and cultural hands-on exposure & active learning are the main planned programmes. This is in line with the theme “Scout for Peace” of the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM). Scouts will have the chance to learn about each other’s tradition and culture, thus gain a better understanding of common global issues.

~SPORTS EXPOSURE
In line with the team of the inaugural Youth Olympics Games in Singapore and BP’s emphasis on healthy lifestyle, participants will be introduced to various traditional and modern sports as part of the Scouting activities. This will further enhance the outdoor ruggedness of our youth and the espirit de corp.

~EDUCATIONAL VISITS
Educational visits will be conducted at various places of interests in Singapore, ranging from the culturally-rich to the educationally-rewarding. From the exciting Wild Life Parks to various cultural and educational attractions, participants will be exposed to the latest knowledge on various issues of interest. Urban Scouting and Environmental conservation will also be featured.

~SUB CAMP ACTIVITIES
A Scout Jamboree can never be complete without the wonderful mix of campfire activities such as singing, building a bonfire, playing games and enjoying each another’s friendship and bonding.
